Dr. Southard Jones
Doctor Wm. Southard Jones is a Delaware native and graduate of the University
of Delaware, Virginia Tech for animal reproduction masters program, and the
University of Pennyslvania for his veterinary degree. He founded Red Lion
Veterinary Hospital in 1978 intending to split his time between pets and the
cows and horses in the area; as the farms disapeared, the large animal work
took a back-seat to the increasing numbers of dogs and cats. At the same time,
he assisted his wife in raising five children, the eldest of which works with
him at this time as Dr. Manetti. The others are: Southard, Adam, Luke, soon to
be our third veterinarian and Katie. His wife Pat does the purchasing for the
hospital. Family animals are six cats, 50 beef cattle, two horses and a German
Shepherd.
